At DEVENTURE we are convinced that global challenges of our time need joint action across borders and cultures. At the same time we believe in the power of entrepreneurial individuals who have the potential to change the game. In our activities we focus on cooperation projects between Ethiopia and Europe. Following our motto «Development through Entrepreneurship» we see our approach as a new kind of development cooperation with a strong focus on business and the private sector.

Our Activities

DEVENTURE used to have ideas about starting a chicken production (Adoro) or developing board games (Ethioplay). Nowadays DEVENTURE is active in the following projects:

Young entrepreneur exchange project

In the Young Entrepreneur Exchange Project (YEEP) we cooperate with Hawassa University in Ethiopia in order to promote entrepreneurial thinking, job creation by student start-ups and intercultural exchange. Every year, a team of students from different universities and schools in Switzerland travel to Ethiopia and work one week with local student teams. Those teams are in the process of transforming a (technical) product or service into a start-up business. They are members of the business incubator at Hawassa University and get support from the local staff. During the YEEP International Exposure Week we work hard on challenging and developing the ideas to bring them one step closer to reality.

BUKAYA

Bukaya is our most recent project in the remote little town Gidole in southwest Ethiopia. We work with a committee of local townspeople. Most of them have left Gidole and live now in the capital Addis Ababa. With the intention to support their home communities they have, besides other activities, founded a kindergarten and primary school. Through the project, we organize volunteer teacher exchange from Europe to Ethiopia and support for the school with pedagogic material.

DEVENTURE is an association according to the Swiss Civil Code Art. 60ff. For details about the association, check out our articles of association (en, de).
